3rd International Caparica Conference on Chromogenic and Emissive Materials (IC3EM 2018)

We are delighted to share that we will be attending the 3rd International Caparica Conference on Chromogenic and Emissive Materials (IC3EM).

The 3rd IC3EM will be held at the Aldeia Dos Capuchos Golf and Spa, and is one of the biggest events in 2018 that covers the Dyes and Fluorescence Fields. Apart from featuring multiple speakers and shotgun presentations, IC3EM will see lectures from;  Dr. Graça Neves, PhD (University of Aveiro, Aveiro), Dr. Soo Young Park (Director of Center for Supramolecular Optoelectronic Materials (CSOM), Professor of Materials Science & Engineering, Seoul National University, Seoul), Dr Pier Luigi Gentili (Department of Chemistry, Biology and Biotechnology, University of Perugia, Perugia), and Dr. Juyoung Yoon (Department of Chemistry and Nano Science, Ewha Womans University), to name a few.

The symposium subjects will include:

  • Fluorescence and Absorption Spectroscopy
  • Microscopy Applications: From Optical to Electronical
  • Cell and Tissue Imaging
  • Emissive Probes, Chemosensors and Labels
  • Fluorescence in Biology/Medicine/Biochemistry
  • Fluorescence in High Throughput Screening Assays
  • Colour as Analytical Tool
  • Chromogenic Compounds for analysis
  • Emissive Liquids Crystals and Polymers
  • Luminescence Peptides and Proteins
  • Single Molecule Spectroscopy

Our Product Specialist, Maria Tesa, Ph.D., will be in attendance, and will be giving a talk on New Developments in Photoluminescence Spectroscopy (See Abstract Below).

Developing emissive materials often requires accurate characterisation of their spectral and time-resolved luminescence. Commercial photoluminescence spectrometers can be configured to meet the material’s requirements for sensitivity, spectral range and resolution. Research-grade systems such as the Edinburgh Instruments FLS1000 allow a high level of customisation: multiple sources and detectors, advanced sample holders, and integration of third-party items.

This talk will introduce the latest FLS1000 accessories and configuration options, designed specially for the current trends in fluorescence research. Excitation sources with variable pulse width have been developed for low-emission and long-lifetime samples. In addition, new temperature control options will be discussed, including accessories for temperature-dependent photoluminescence quantum yield. New experimental results employing these accessories will be presented and discussed.

Maria will be available to discuss the latest news and applications at Edinburgh Instruments. If you are going to be in attendance, then why not arrange to meet with her by emailing her at maria.tesa@edinst.com.

We hope to see you there.
