Here at Edinburgh Instruments, we are proud of all our employees for all they do behind the scenes, so we thought it was time to put them in the spotlight. This series does exactly that; you get a sneak peek into what drives, excites and enamours our team. We hope you enjoy it!
Meet Claire Higgins, Marketing Assistant here at Edinburgh Instruments. Claire supports the Marketing team across all functions, with a focus on social media management, event preparation, and internal communications.
What does a typical day/ week in your role look like?
I’m involved in a real mix of marketing activities, but if I had to pick a favourite, it would definitely be creating our social media content. I love the whole process, from filming little snippets to writing engaging captions – it’s where I feel I can really be creative. I also work closely with Niamh, our Marketing Executive, on all things events and conferences, helping with the planning and getting everything prepped. I also look after our internal comms with the quarterly newsletter for all the Techcomp companies, which is important for keeping everyone connected. And my “People of EI” blog series is something I’m really passionate about – it’s great to share the stories of our team. And yeah, there are always other bits and bobs that need doing too!
Where would we find you on the weekend?
My ideal weekend starts off with an 8 am Pilates class – a current obsession! Then, you’ll usually find me wandering around the city centre, Blank Street blueberry matcha in hand! When I’m not doing that, you will probably find me lost in creating and designing charm necklaces for my little jewellery brand. It’s such a great way for me to be creative and just switch off. Quality time with family and friends is a must, but I also make sure I get some “me time” in there, which often looks like a bit of shopping or a restorative yoga class. And because I’m a total foodie, I’m always on the hunt for new restaurants – Razzo Pizzeria in Leith is a serious favourite right now. If I’m really lucky, I’ll find a cheap flight and jet off somewhere for the weekend! Copenhagen was a recent highlight – the fashion is so chic but cool, and the food scene is amazing!
What is your favourite food?
My favourite food is bruschetta! I would eat bruschetta every day if I could and would call myself a bruschetta connoisseur. I know all the best spots, and Gigi’s in Bonnyrigg is hands-down my favourite. After a starter of bruschetta, I go for a Neapolitan pizza with spianata salami and no cheese! Funnily enough, I have not yet been to Italy, but it is on the plans for the year ahead!
