Here at Edinburgh Instruments, we are proud of all our employees for all they do behind the scenes, so we thought it was time to put them in the spotlight. This series does exactly that; you get a sneak peek into what drives, excites and enamours our team. We hope you enjoy it!
Meet Niamh Kenny, Marketing Executive – Social Media and Events, here at Edinburgh Instruments. In Niamh’s role, she is responsible for the Techcomp Lab Products social media channels and the planning and organising of events.
What does a typical day/ week in your role look like?
I manage social media and events for the Techcomp Group, which means no two days are ever the same. My mornings typically start by checking emails and Teams for any updates or requests. I then move on to our social media channels, making sure comments and direct messages are replied to and building on our community engagement. Once that’s taken care of, I focus on creating and scheduling content for Techcomp Lab Products.
In the afternoon, I shift my focus to organizing events across the group. I prefer tackling this in the afternoon since it allows me to collaborate with our US team. Alongside event planning, I handle various administrative tasks on our TCLP websites, manage event budgets, and prepare giveaways for exhibitions and distributors. There’s always something new and exciting to work on!
What I really enjoy about my role is the opportunity to collaborate across all our companies and departments. It’s rewarding to get an inside look at what other teams are working on and contribute to such a dynamic environment.
Where would we find you on the weekend?
I’m a huge fan of live music, always on the lookout for my next gig or festival. You’ll often find me right in the heart of the action, moshing at a metal show. One of my faves so far this year has been Limp Bizkit in Glasgow—it was absolutely insane and might already be my contender for gig of the year!
When the weekend rolls around, you’ll likely find me glued to F1 and MotoGP from March to December. I try to make it to as many races as I can, and I’m slowly ticking off tracks around the world. My most recent adventure took me to the Singapore GP (sadly, it was Daniel’s last race—still not over it 😔).
When I’m not at a race or gig, I love unwinding with friends at the pub or hosting charcuterie nights. I also spend plenty of quality time with my boyfriend and his son, usually trying (and failing) to keep up with them on Fortnite. Let’s just say, I’m the one who needs revived five times a match—much to their amusement!
What is your favourite food?
I’m a huge fan of charcuterie—there’s just something about a selection of Spanish and Italian cold cuts paired with cheeses from around the world that never gets old. While I don’t think I have a single “favourite” food, if I had to choose one cuisine to eat for the rest of my life, it would definitely be Mexican. The bold flavours and variety make it an easy choice!
And, of course, I can’t resist a packet of Magic Stars—they’re my guilty pleasure
