In Part 6 of Edinburgh Instruments series on Disentangling Fluorescence & Phosphorescence, the techniques introduced in the previous parts are combined to fully characterise the photophysical properties of a delayed fluorescence emitter which emits over nanosecond, microsecond and millisecond timescales.

Time-gating the PMT enables the user to measure small phosphorescent signals to be detected on top of a large fluorescence background. MCS is a complimentary technique to TCSPC discussed in Part 2 and is ideal for measuring longer PL lifetimes such as phosphorescence processes rapidly.
