Gregor Poynton, Livingston MP, recently visited Edinburgh Instruments’ Livingston headquarters to learn more about the company’s role in developing and manufacturing advanced scientific instrumentation for customers around the world.

During the visit, Gregor toured the company’s development and manufacturing facilities, where he met members of the applications and production teams and saw first-hand how advanced spectroscopy systems are designed and built in Livingston. Discussions also focused on the strength of Scotland’s innovation and technology sector and the contribution that high-value manufacturing businesses make to the local economy.

Edinburgh Instruments develops and manufactures advanced scientific instrumentation, including photoluminescence and Raman spectroscopy systems, gas sensors and lasers, for customers across academia and industry worldwide.

Edinburgh Instruments has been part of the Livingston business community for more than 30 years and has expanded significantly during that time, growing from a single building to three at its Kirkton Campus site. The company was originally established at Heriot-Watt University as the university’s first private spin-out.
