The Xe900 is the ideal source for
continuous excitation in stead state fluorimetry. The
Xe900 consists of an ozone free Xenon arc lamp, lamp
housing and power supply. The lamp housing is suitable for
use with lamps of up to 500W and consists of a rigid, high
stability aluminium enclosure with built-in lamp ignitor.
A fully adjustable Spectrosil B condenser lens unit is
fitted as standard. The internal temperature in the lamp
housing and the power supply are permanently monitored and
interlocked. Fine pitch adjustment screws enable the lamp
to be optically aligned during operation in two orthogonal
optical planes and the adjustable spherical rear reflector
gives a 30% increase in optical output.
The power supply uses pulse width modulated switching
operation and at all times the lamp current and voltage
can be monitored on an LCD display. Operating current can
be set anywhere in the range from 10 to 27A via the front
panel and a time elapsed monitor on the rear of the power
supply gives an indication of the time in hours over which
the lamp has been operational.
