The
LifeSpec-1700 is a compact, high performance, computer
controlled spectrometer for the rapid measurement of
fluorescence lifetimes based on the technique of Time
Correlated Single Photon Counting. The LifeSpec-1700 can
be flexibly configured with a choice of high repetition
rate, short pulse length, excitation sources with
selectable wavelength spanning the UV-Visible (picosecond
semiconductor diode lasers and pulsed light emitting
diodes (LED)). For further details of these sources please
refer to table 1 below.
The LifeSpec-1700 is supplied with a nitrogen cooled
single photon counting sensitive PMT with spectral
response 300-1700nm.
The LifeSpec 1700 consists of the following hardware :
-
Choice of short pulsed excitation
source (see EPLs below)
-
Sample chamber with liquid cooled
cuvette holder and temperature monitor,
-
100 mm focal length low temporal
dispersion, high stray light rejection emission
monochromator. Computer controlled wavelength selection,
manual slit selection, wavelength accuracy 1nm
-
Single Photon counting sensitive
detector wavelength response 300-1700nm. Instrumental
response function 200ps. Supplied in room temperature
housing, with integral HV supply
-
TCC900 card for TCSPC data
acquisition
-
Dedicated PC running F900 software
for comprehensive spectrometer control, performance
monitoring, fluorescence lifetime data acquisition and
analysis library
EPLs - Edinburgh Picosecond Diode Lasers
The EPL picosecond diode
lasers have been designed as a light source for TCSPC
systems. They have been pre-adjusted for the best
pulsewidth and spectrally purified output. A choice of
10 repetition rates which match the TCSPC electronics of
the Lifespec are available.

Software Interface :
The F900
advanced software is a user friendly package providing the
user with complete instrument control. The F900 software
controls measurement set-up and data acquisition all
through a transparent menu. Control of the hardware
settings on the TCC900 card are easily accessed through
the F900 software. The software also provides the user
with decay curve analysis for up to four exponential decay
processes.
