The FLS920P is a modular, computer
controlled L - geometry spectrometer for acquiring steady
state luminescence spectra, time resolved fluorescence
spectra and the associated fluorescence decays in the
ultraviolet - visible - near infra red spectral range with
single photon counting sensitivity. The steady state mode
uses a single photon counting, fast photon counter scalar
PC plug-in card for steady state measurements. This card
operates with count rates up to 100MHz . For fluorescence
lifetime acquisition the system employs the technique of
Time Correlated Single Photon Counting: this technique is
widely accepted to be the method of choice for maximum
sensitivity, dynamic range, accuracy and precision. The
sensitivity of the system guarantees a signal to noise
ratio of 6000:1 for water Raman spectrum measured with
excitation at 350 nm, emission at 397 nm, with a 1 second
integration time and 5 nm spectral bandwidth.
The configuration of the FLS920P
consists of the following hardware :
-
CW 450 W xenon arc lamp
-
Nanosecond pulsed flashlamp, 1ns FWHM
pulse duration. Supplied with driver and start
synchronisation photomultiplier, gas filling and vacuum
pumping station
-
Excitation monochromator: 300mm focal
length, Czerny-Turner design triple grating turret
facility with computer controlled wavelength selection
and computer controlled continuously adjustable slits.

Software Interface :
In keeping
with the modularity of the FLS920P spectrometer, the F900
advanced software is a user friendly package. Irrespective
of the system configuration and accessories, the F900
software provides the user with complete control.
Measurement set-up and data acquisition is made through a
transparent menu system and the measurement modes within
the software reflect the system configuration by means of
a simple operating environment. Control of the hardware
settings on both the TCC900 and the PCS900 data
acquisition cards are easily accessed through the F900
software.

Data Acquisition :
The FLS920P
incorporates state of the art single photon counting
technology in the form of the TCC900 and PCS900 computer
plug-in card. The PCS900 card is a fast pulse count scalar
card that can operate with count rates of up to 100MHz.
The TCC900 card is our PC plug-in card for Time Correlated
Single Photon Counting Data Acquisition. TCSPC is widely
accepted to be the method of choice for maximum
sensitivity, dynamic range, accuracy and precision.
